Plantation Peacock 1
Charleston County, South Carolina | Photography
Peacock, the Indian peafowl, also known as the common peafowl, or blue peafowl, is a peafowl species native to the Indian subcontinent. This one was roaming the ground of the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is a historic house with gardens located on the Ashley River at 3550 Ashley River Road west of Ashley, Charleston County, South Carolina. It is one of the oldest plantations in the South, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property is breathtaking full of gardens, history, and beauty. I highly recommend a tour of the main house and then schedule time to just walk around and explore.
Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Low Country, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens.
